Inspired by this year's Bed Show

This week, our Sales Team visited The Bed Show at the Telford International Centre to check out the latest bed and mattress designs from a variety of British and Irish bed manufacturers and suppliers.

Getting around The Bed Show is no mean feat, with so many fantastic manufacturers and suppliers on hand to speak to, so many quality products to try out, and so little time!

That’s why, this year, we did plenty of research ahead of time, and arrived armed with a to-do list of products we wanted to try for ourselves, and manufacturers we wanted to speak to further – based on the trends we’ve observed online, and in our showroom in Thetford, Norfolk, over the past few months.

The first item on our to-do list was to search for some quality, single mattresses suitable for bunk beds, to add to our existing range. We’ve seen an increasing number of customers looking for bunk bed solutions, with parents seeking innovative mattress designs to ensure their children get a good night’s sleep on quality materials.

With this in mind, we visited our friends at the Sleepshaper stand. Sleepshaper is a UK-based manufacturer which specialises in producing memory foam mattresses of a minimum 60kg in density. Our existing range of Sleepshaper mattresses have proven popular with customers across the UK, so we took the opportunity to try some other mattresses from the Sleepshaper range… and snapped up a bunch of fantastic memory foam mattresses to add to our showroom and website offerings in the coming weeks… In good news, these mattresses are so popular with customers that Sleepshaper produces them daily – which means they can usually be delivered within just days of an order being placed with us. What more could you ask for?

With our first job of the day complete, we stopped by the neighbouring stand from Mammoth to check out their latest designs... and had to resist the temptation to lie on their adjustable, massaging mattress for the rest of the day, with so much left to do! Mammoth mattresses were originally designed to improve the wellbeing and performance of elite and Olympic athletes, and their Medical Grade™ Foam has been scientifically shown to improve sleep. We were really impressed with their current range, and will be adding a variety of Mammoth products to our online and showroom offerings in the next few months.

Armed with a Mammoth goody bag (including a very cute Mammoth teddy for the head office), we moved on to meet the Breasley team, to tick off item two on our to-do list – find a new range of rolled mattresses to add to our growing online range. We made a bee-line for their range of UNO mattresses. These mattresses are high quality, ultra-comfy, and conveniently arrive at your door vacuum-packed – making them easy to navigate to your room of choice! We liked the UNO mattresses so much, we’ve decided to offer all of them on our website.

With two more fantastic brands under our belt, the clock ticking, and one more item left on our to-do list, there was no time for a break – so we headed over to the Swanglen stand. Based in Bristol, Swanglen are the UK’s leading headboard manufacturer. We checked out their range of luxurious and creative headboard designs, from classic to more edgy, statement pieces, and even found a number of headboards can be wall-mounted! We also loved Swanglen’s fantastic range of complementary furniture for children, with a number of options in glorious, bold colours, perfect for brightening up a kids’ bedroom or playroom. We can’t wait to show you these in our showroom… and of course, we’ll make sure they’re on offer via our website, too!

With our to-do list finally ticked off, 4pm arrived and The Bed Show came to a close for another year. Armed with bags full of product catalogues and fabric swatches, we waved goodbye to the Telford International Centre and journeyed back towards the South.

We returned to our Thetford showroom, tired but inspired – and, more importantly, full of great, new ideas for revamping our online and showroom product ranges. We’re now busy putting together order lists and new product pages, and can’t wait to hear your reactions to the designs we’ve selected for you.
